he Needham Historical Society preserves the social, political and intellectual history of the community of Needham, Massachusetts. With its proximity to both the Charles River and the railroad, and more recently Route 128, Needham has enjoyed easy access to the business and intellectual resources of the greater Boston area. The result has been a tradition of innovation in both mechanical and agricultural industries---textile production, plant genetics, and "hygienic" agriculture---that has defined Needham for three centuries.
